- Deliver student voice to ensure the students are being listened to & concerns are being addressed You should vote because…
We run elections every year for the student population to vote who they want to represent them as the Students' Union!
From Monday 27th January, students can nominate themselves to run in the elections to lead the SU as President.
A designated SU Election support staff member will meet with the potential candidate to explain the process before the potential candidate confirming their intentions to run by completing the nomination form.
The SU President role is a full time, paid position, so only students that are graduating/finishing their studies can run for this position.
Once a student has nominated themselves, the designated election support staff will prepare them for their campaign!
The first step for candidates to prepare for their campaign, is to create a manifesto. This is a document that outlines why students should vote for them that includes who they are, why they would make a good Students' Union representative, and what the pledge to implement should they be voted in.
Candidates will also have access to resources to support their campaign, such as business cards, flyers, clothing, chocolates and sweets, and will begin campaigning on campuses and online (Google Chat/Classroom/Social Media) from Thursday 27th February.
From Monday 10th March, students are able to vote for which candidate they want to lead the SU as President.
Voting is either done online through the SU website or through paper ballots on your campus, and Election Support Staff will be on hand on campuses to help with any issues or concerns that arise during the voting period as well as promoting the Elections in general.
This is when the candidates will be campaigning the most and will be visible across all campuses very frequently. Be sure to engage with them and ask them why you should vote for them so you are in the best position to have your say and cast your vote!
Voting will close on Friday 21st March at 3pm.
The results of the Election will be annouced at a live presentation event on Monday 24th March at Printworks Campus from 3pm, in which any and all staff and students are invited to attend.
The results will then be shared on the website, our social media pages, and through all student email.
