Our aims:

SU aims for this year were created during the officers training week and we collectively decided that mental health support, cost of living and community were the 3 most important things to us to focus on this year.

  • Mental Health Support to us means all staff being mental health first aid trained, 1-1s to ensure that students are receiving the appropriate help within and outside of college, as well as ensuring learners know how to access support if they need it.
  • Community and encouraging a sense of belonging is important to us. Making sure everyone is included and involved and allowing a safe environment where we can ask as a collective for bigger pray rooms or doing more community based campaigns such as HIV awareness that only affects a certain community but showing that we stand together.
  • Cost of living is a huge problem we are all currently facing. We will look to provide students with help towards the cost of living crisis and particularly looking for those who fall into vulnerable category, whether that's by helping put the meal card allowance or by making sure students are able to access the basics.
