FIVE WAYS TO WELLBEING

To help students to feel positive and get the most out of life at Leeds City College we promote the 5 ways to wellbeing.

1. CONNECT WITH PEOPLE

Make the effort to talk to someone you don’t know, smile and say hello. Connecting with others helps protect your wellbeing.

2. BE ACTIVE

Exercise can help reduce stress and improve your mood.

3. TAKE NOTICE

Look at your surroundings, notice your mood. Increase your self-awareness and be mindful of the world around you. Be present. Recognise what is important to you and your life.

4. KEEP LEARNING

Boost your self-esteem and confidence by trying something new.

5. GIVE

Helping others can boost your wellbeing. Say thank you, volunteer your time to help someone, be kind to others.

SU MENTAL HEALTH AND DISABILITIES SOCIETY

Our Society meets online every Friday lunchtime (1-1.30pm). We are a group of students who care about our wellbeing and openly discuss situations that people may struggle with everyday, where we find ways to cope and feel better. We encourage each other to be their best selves and promote the importance of mental health and disabilities throughout college and even have ambassadors to do so.

Taking part in fun activities and learning new things every week can be refreshing and a great way to interact with each other. Our goal is to make sure we speak openly about these topics with each other and provide help to those needs with professionals and people in college.
